2026 SONOMA PLEIN AIR FESTIVAL SEPTEMBER 14 - 19, 2026 ENTRY FEE: $50 We invite professional artists from across the country and beyond to apply for our upcoming Plein Air Festival in beautiful Sonoma, California. Set amidst vineyards, historic plazas and breathtaking Pacific Coast vistas, this annual event celebrates the artistry of painting outdoors. Join us for a week of inspiration, community, and the opportunity to showcase your work during our 24th Annual Festival. ENTRY FORM AND FEE The 2026 Sonoma Plein Air application will be available online January 2, 2026 through February 28, 2026. The Application fee is $50 per person and includes the submission of four Plein Air images (Plein Air only please). Artist statements are not required. IMAGE FORMAT Each artist must submit four images of their Plein Air artwork. Please refer to the Juried Art Services Help File for new image requirements. ENTRY PROCESS The Sonoma Plein Air Festival is a juried exhibition selected by a panel of 4-6 jurors. The panel will review all submitted applications and select approximately 25 artists to participate in the 2026 event. The 2025 Artist Choice award winner (Paul Kratter) is invited back for the 2026 event. Artists will be notified of their selection via email no later than March 17, 2026. Artist agreement forms will be emailed to selected artists shortly thereafter. EXHIBITION DETAILS Artists must be on site the week of September 14-19, 2026. Each artist is expected to complete 5-8 paintings during the Festival week to sell on the final day of the Festival. Artists select a favorite image painted during the week to sell during the silent auction the night of the Gala (September 18). Artists are also welcome to bring 5 to 8 studio paintings to sell during the Art Sale on the Plaza on Saturday, September 19. All works must be suitably framed with proper backing.
